Project Focus

We just held our first meeting with the new group of Projectfocus kids and I'm really excited about this year's group. We are working with kids whose mothers are either incarcerated or are in transition from prison to the community. We will photograph the children and they, in turn, will photograph their mothers. We are working in two locations, the prison and at Ka Hale Ho‘ala Hou No Na Wahine . The participants and their mothers as well as their caregivers all seem very enthusiastic and we are all looking forward to another amazing learning experience. Please take a look at the new website to see what we are up to.

Also don't forget to read about our on-going holiday card special in the blog post below.

Here are images from more past sessions.

How sweet is this smile from this 6 day old?

This one was all giggles as long as he was in him mom's arms.

This image made the perfect canvas!

This little one wanted me to carry him. He was so super sweet.

I had as much fun with these two as they had with each other.

I'll leave with tip #5 from Annie-

"Never give your dog a pretty flower."

A Special!

I have been feverishly booking sessions for the holiday season... can you believe the madness? It's only May people. It's crazy but my weekends are almost completely booked out from late August till the end of the year. I do have a few left in the beginning and I am still very flexible for the weekdays, although I don't know how long that will last either. But before I get tackled, I wanted to offer a special!

For ALL sessions (even the ones already on the books) in August and September, you will receive your first 25 holiday cards on me (100 minimum order still applies).

And just think, if you book in August or September, your cards will be done early and you wont have to think of them again until you are ready to send them out. You could even send them out first and beat all your friends. Not to mention getting a prime spot on your pediatrician's wall of cards.

Call or email me to book a session. I will need a deposit to hold the date.

Here are some images from past sessions.

What amazing eyes on this little girl.

These two had a tea party while we were hanging out.

This is a very loving new big sis.

And her (then) very tiny baby brother.

Can't leave without a tip from the ol' annie:
One to start the summer off right-

Tip #4... "If you are an adult, don’t dive into the kiddie pool. Even if you are really, really short."

Thanks for stopping by.

boys

Ok, so I'm a day or two late. I'm back now and the post-a-pic part of blogger is finally my friend again. So I'll post some boys. But, before I do, let me tell you how tickled Annie is about having her very own "tip" section on the blog. She has been spouting off tips like there is no tomorrow. So without further ado:

Annie's Tip Number 2:

"Don't put your fat fingers into a Chinese Finger Trap if you have a mosquito bite."

That one made me laugh. Where does she come up with these?

Onto the boys:

This little guy loved hanging out with his new baby brother.

For a few month old, he slept like a champ.

These guys were so much fun as well.

He taught me all about the ocean.

And his big love was cars.

Check back for a special Mother's Day post. ( I'll try to get one in before it though.)

Thanks for stopping by,

Mother's Day Contest Winners

Congratulations to Jenni and Erik for winning the contest. Both of your entries made us laugh and we could also totally relate. We also loved that anonymous one and what mom hasn't felt like that last one? All of them were really good, we actually had a really hard time choosing. Erik and Jenni, I will send you each a $50 gift card from Makana Mother and Baby. Don't forget to tell Cathy or Corey I said "Hi."

I will be announcing a blog special at the end of next week please check back. You can also add me to your Google Reader so that you can easily see when I post. I'll try to be better (I know I'm late to announce the winners "sigh".)

Oh, and Happy May Day to everyone.

I might be starting a new "Tip From Annie" every now and again. She is my six year old and sometimes her tips are meant to be shared. They crack me up - the logic of it all...

Here is her tip of the day:
"Tip number one - if you play with a bouncy ball, don't play with it outside"

We'll see how it goes.

I was going to post a few sessions here but my Blogger is just not having it today. I'll try have a posting bonanza in a few.

Thanks for stopping by and Congrats to Jenni and Erik.
